Fraser Academy Board Members

Jed Brezer
Jed is an alumnus of Fraser Academy ('92) and a graduate of the University of Arizona ('99, Communications and Business Finance). Currently an Investment Advisor at BMO Nesbitt Burns, Jed's prior business experience includes founding Breathe Active Wear, a Vancouver-based clothing company, as well as several US-based dot-com startups. In addition to his responsibilities at Fraser Academy, Jed sits on the advisory board of the Vancouver Foundation development committee.

Ray Castelli
An alumnus of the SFU and INSEAD business schools, Ray is currently president and CEO of Weather Haven. His prior business experience includes six years as senior vice president of Quadrem, a Dallas-based e-business solutions company, and six years with Alcan Aluminum in New York, Montréal and Vancouver. Ray also served six years in government; his positions included deputy chief of staff to the prime minister, and chief of staff to the minister of justice and Indian affairs.

Robert Ellis
Robert joined the Fraser Academy Board in 2003 and was elected chairman in 2006. His term ended in July 2009 and he remains on the Board as Past Chair. In addition to his responsibilities at Fraser Academy, Robert is Ombudsman for the Independent Schools Association of BC. He is also a current Trustee and past Chairman of the St. George's School Foundation and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of St. George's School. Robert received his BA ('71) and LLB ('74) from the University of British Columbia; since 1975, he has practiced civil litigation law at his own firm, Ellis, Roadburg. Robert and his wife Gwen have three sons, one of whom is an alumnus of Fraser Academy.

Rod Johnston, Vice-Chair
Rod earned his BCom from the University of British Columbia and received his Chartered Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia ('78). Rod is an incorporated partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he has served in a variety of positions over 30 years. He is currently the advisory services leader for PwC's British Columbia region and serves on the firm's Canadian advisory executive. Rod focuses on corporate finance activities and has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions. Rod and his wife Debra have three children, one of whom attended Fraser Academy.

Brenda Jones Kinsella, Chair
Brenda joined the Fraser Academy Board in May 2004. She holds a BA in English Literature, and a B.Ed (Secondary Special Education) from the University of Toronto. Her days as a classroom teacher and educational consultant have been replaced in recent years by membership on several not-for-profit boards, most notably Arts Umbrella, Vancouver Academy of Music and Endeavour Society, where she served as President for two years. In addition to her duties at Fraser Academy, Brenda serves as a director of the National Theatre School of Canada in Montréal. She and her husband Patrick have two sons, one of whom is a former Fraser Academy student.

Wendy Reifel

Wendy has an Honours BA in English Literature from the University of Western Ontario. She has worked in the airline industry as a flight attendant trainer, and was managing director of a high-profile retail company with four locations across Canada. Wendy is an active volunteer in a number of community and conservation organizations, and along with her husband, George, has a son who currently attends Fraser Academy.

David Sacks, Secretary/Treasurer
David is president and CEO of Imasco Minerals Inc., a Vancouver-based industrial minerals and construction products manufacturer. He enjoys an active role in local charities and volunteer organizations. David has been a member of the board of directors of the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, Shaarey Tefilah Synagogue, Eitz Chaim Synagogue and Vancouver Talmud Torah Elementary School. David and his wife Rhonda are the parents of five daughters, two of whom currently attend Fraser Academy.
