Banner Slogan:

A fully accredited day school for students in grades 1-12 with dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities.

Our academic philosophy: adapt, encourage, support

Students with language-based learning difficulties such as dyslexia learn in different ways, which is why we take an individualized approach to learning at Fraser Academy. While the school is fully accredited by the BC Ministry of Education and all students follow a core curriculum, all students also follow individualized learning plans. This means they learn at their ability, skill level and pace—and because of this, learn to experience success from day one.

Classes are deliberately small, with no more than 10 students. This enables teachers to employ multisensory learning techniques on an individual level in all classroom situations.

Fraser Academy students also benefit from a daily one-to-one lesson with tutors fully trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach. O-G is the most proven learning approach for individuals with language-based learning difficulties, particularly dyslexia.

Structure is key: a firm support structure helps students to learn better and to develop positive study habits. They are taught to organize themselves through the use of daily planners and by keeping to a consistent daily schedule; teacher expectations are clear and steadily reinforced; teachers and tutors closely monitor progress so that students are always working to the best of their abilities.
