Ages: 6-12 Grades: 1-7

Our elementary school program is centred on the development of language and learning skills—reading, writing, spelling and vocabulary. Students work in small classes of no more than 10 students, with one teacher for the academic day. The group stays together for its classes, which include a core curriculum of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and PE, supplemented by art, music, drama and computer classes.

Each student receives a daily one-to-one Orton-Gillingham tutorial specifically attuned to his or her diagnosed needs in the areas of reading, spelling, writing and handwriting. While students are assigned homework, no students are sent home with assignments they cannot complete independently. The Orton-Gillingham approach is perhaps the most effective––and definitely the most proven––method for teaching students with dyslexia or other language-based learning disabilities to read and write.
