Transition planning to ensure future success

Graduating from high school and making decisions about higher education and careers can be a daunting task for anyone. For students with dyslexia or other language-based learning disabilities, it can be overwhelming. Transition planning helps our students deal with these exciting, but challenging, decisions.

Through a process of self-evaluation and information gathering, this program assists our students to:

  • Gain a better understanding of their talents and interests, needs and values
  • Explore educational and career options
  • Become equipped to make focused decisions about their futures.

Starting in Grade 10 and continuing through Grade 12, this process is a collaborative effort between students, parents, our transition counsellor and school staff. Each student develops an individualized two-year plan to facilitate his or her decision-making and transition into life after high school, whether that is college, university, travel, internships or work. Graduates are also welcome to consult with us for ongoing guidance and support through their post-secondary journeys.
