Parents

Welcome back to the new school year! Some announcements and reminders:

  • Please ensure your child's registration forms are at the office. Any students with outstanding registration forms WILL NOT be admitted to classes.
  • Daily bus service to and from South Surrey and Richmond begins Sep. 4. For more information and to register, click here.
  • After-school care is available on a drop-in basis. If you think you might like to take advantage of this service from time to time, please register with the school office in advance so that we have your information on file. Click here for more information.
  • Lionheart Optional Team Gear orders are due Sep. 20. Click here for more information and the order form. This well-made workout gear, which includes sweats and hoodies, is a terrific option for PE during the cold, damp days of fall and winter.
  • New pickup policy: Last year, we had problems with City parking enforcement officers ticketing parents waiting to pick up their children. The school has been in touch with the City and negotiated the following:
    • Enforcement officers will allow parents 10 minutes to stop on the park side of Vine St. for school pickup.
    • Parents are asked not to leave their cars for ANY reason. Please respect the leeway given to us by following the City's request to stay with your vehicle.
  • School uniform:
    • Pants have now changed from khaki to gray flannel and must be purchased from Top Ten School Wear. The formal uniform also includes an optional navy blazer. More information is available here.
    • Students are expected to arrive daily in clean, full uniform, including shoes and with shirts tucked in.
    • Students will be allowed to carry a book bag or small backpack between classes.
    • Smoking is no longer permitted in school uniform.
    • A second-hand uniform sale will take place; say tuned for date and time.
  • Gift Card Fundraising: The PVG's successful Online Gift Card Fundraising program has returned! A reminder of how it works: parents, relatives and friends of Fraser Academy purchase gift cards online at full face value; the retailers (grocery stores including IGA, drugstores, gas stations, department stores and more) give Fraser Academy 2% to 10% of the purchase price. This month's orders are due Sept. 23, with card pickup from Oct. 4. For more information, click here.
  • Speaking of Kids & Henry Winkler! Fraser Academy is proud to be a gold sponsor of the LDA's Speaking of Kids conference 2010, on Friday, Oct. 22, at Killarney Secondary School. We encourage parents to attend! This half-day event (8:45 am to 12:30 pm) features the inspiring actor, writer, producer and director Henry 'The Fonz' Winkler, back to share his personal (and hilarious) journey growing up with dyslexia. The morning also includes five fascinating talks (18 minutes each) on such pertinent topics as The Power of You and Demystifying Psych-Ed Assessments. As gold sponsor, Fraser Academy gets to bring four lucky guests to a private, 15-minute reception with Henry Winkler. This event sells out every year--get your tickets ($55/$65 members/nonmembers) today.
